ABOUT ME
I’m Michelle Davis, an author passionate about children’s literature and dedicated to making African American history accessible and engaging for young readers. My journey began during the pandemic when I wrote a fantasy book for my quarantined grandsons. That passion burst into flames upon a subsequent visit to Barnes and Noble during Black History Month in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement. Sharing our legacies in the context of surrounding events to capture an honest perspective is my purpose. My books aim to spark conversations, inspire curiosity, deepen understanding, and deepen appreciation for our rich heritage.
MY BOOK
The Big Mama book series offers a collection of engaging and educational children’s literature that brings the rich history of African Americans to life. The stories are designed to be read to children between the ages of five and twelve and aim to spark meaningful conversations between the reader and the child. Inspired by current events, and movements like Black Lives Matter, our books fill a critical gap in the market by providing relatable African American literature.
My stories aim to develop empathy, educate, empower, and encourage. I hope to share the richness of our heritage and inspire a sense of community in every child who reads them.
